Annuity Vice President / Sales

Job Brief
The Vice President of Annuity sales will manage a group of producers that sell Fixed and Indexed annuities while continuing to recruit profitable business. with a focus on ASA’s values and standards. A successful VP of Annuity Sales should have a professional demeanor with an entrepreneurial mindset, while mastering our unique value propositions and best practices.  This position will focus on building capacity through recruitment and training of annuity agents. Our reputation of always doing the “best thing” for the client must be upheld, along with fair dealing with all agents that do business with The ASA Group.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Conduct all business transactions with the highest ethical and morale compass, believe in holding the clients’ interest above all else, and in accordance with The ASA Group values of service excellence
  • Compare costs and benefits of annuity products to multiple asset classes within the securities realm
  • Design client solutions for agents based on case data including income rider screens, carrier illustrations and various rate watch services
  • Conduct pre-suitability reviews and applications for accuracy, correctness, and suitability issues
  • Monitor case management, licensing/commission, servicing, and intervene when problems arise
  • Monitor carrier ratings, financial performance, and major event headlines
  • Serve as the liaison with carrier Annuity Regional Vice Presidents.
  • Closely monitor developments regarding the Department of Labor Fiduciary Rule, explore Financial Institution offerings, develop plans to comply with The Rule and communicate requirements of The Rule to agents.
  • Passionate about Annuity Wholesaling excellence with a proven track record of sales success.
  • Manage a book of active producers/prospects and demonstrate the ability to grow profitability with those contacts. The producers are typically made up of agents sourced by the VP of annuities that are added to relationships provided by The ASA Group.  Assigned/recruited agents will be throughout the country, in a geographic territory, or throughout an account, bank or agency.
  • Sales VP’s uphold our wholesaling best practices including executing agent call campaigns provided by ASA, Pipeline development, and updating CRM system with progress.
  • Maintain regular contact with top producers to grow production and understand their unique situation.
  • Constant development of prospective top producers and delivering high-value convincing sales presentations.
  • Master the tools, concepts, and key sales strategies that separate you from other competitors.
  • Master the ability to tell The ASA Group Story that incorporates our history of exceeding service expectations.
  • Learn to identify opportunities to grow sales and avoid producers that consume resources and do not deliver meaningful results.
  • Be capable of performing at the highest level of wholesaler expertise and production levels

Most Critical Proficiencies

  • Deep knowledge of annuity products and general knowledge of financial services industry
  • Proven ability to properly position and sell financial products
  • Ability to effectively communicate with agents, end clients (when requested), office staff, carrier executives and be effective in a team environment
  • Ability to work efficiently, set priorities, and manage multiple tasks and deadlines in fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, writing, grammar and editing skills.
  • Must be well organized, energetic, and a follow-through professional.
  • Possess strong computer skills and experience with the Microsoft suite of products and the Internet.
  • Ability to work with sensitive information and must maintain strict confidentiality.

Minimum Education and Experience

  •  Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university with a concentration in finance, insurance, business or an equivalency of education and experience.
  • Two or more years of sales experience in the annuity environment
  • Licensed for Life Insurance

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Three (3) years of experience wholesaling or selling annuities
  • FINRA, Series 6/7 and 63 Registration
  • Industry designations, including FLMI, CLTC, CLU®, CHFC®, and CFP®
  • Experience with multi-carrier product and planning knowledge with annuities

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • None

    • Use proprietary and third-party software solutions to produce life insurance illustrations, revisions, and sales presentations that are both timely and accurate.
    • Follow up with stakeholders to determine if illustrations meet their needs and inquire about additional opportunities.
    • Proactively make outbound calls to educate the field as well as potential and existing producers on new products, niche opportunities, case design solutions, marketing ideas, and advanced sales concepts that will help them grow sales.
    • Maintain knowledge of the life insurance product landscape as it pertains to product competitiveness, basic sales concepts, field underwriting, carrier illustration software, marketing resources, and sales ideas.
    • Analyze in-force details, including status, conversion credits, current values, premium schedule, etc., to describe the current disposition of a policy and present alternative solutions.
